Research Activities

SIVA is a department of the Clinical Research Institute (I.R.C.C.S.) "S. Maria Nascente" of the Don Carlo Gnocchi Foundation. As such it takes part in both the "continuous" and "topical" research programmes carried out by the italian network of I.R.C.C.S.s with the support of the Ministry of Health.

The term "Continuous Research" refers to all study and research activities that are carried out on a permanent basis by each I.R.C.C.S. within the scope of its mission.
Within the IRCCS "S. Maria Nascente", SIVA carries out the Research Line n. 6 "Technology for Social Integration and Public Health".

The term "Topical Research" refers to projects aimed at well-defined clinical, health or rehabilitative goals to be achieved within fixed deadlines that depend on the specific subject. Each project is submitted for approval to a Biomedical Commission appointed by the Ministry of Health. A major eligibility criterium is the transferability of results into clinical practice or within the organisational structure of the National Health Service.

SIVA is also engaged as leader or partner in a number of research programmes of the European Commission (especially TIDE and TELEMATICS of the European Commission) and in several international working groups.

SIVA has taken part in the following projects, founded by the European Commission
